Tenor saxophonist Matthieu Bordenave illustrates with every note how to unfold tremendous intensity and power with sounds that are characterized by their exquisite delicacy and the oscillation of a variety of sound nuances. His playing exudes so much intense feeling that you want to follow him everywhere, sucked in by the poetry, melancholy and joy, and the tenderness that it exudes – in short: by the poetically reflected liveliness that the saxophonist cultivates at the highest level in conjunction with great musicians in his quartet. Along side two of them: German pianist Florian Weber and French bassist Patrice Moret, he made his debut on the renowned ECM label in 2020 with the album “La Traversée”.
Matthieu can still be seen live this year in Munich and Innsbruck in a quartet with Florian Weber (piano), Patrice Moret (bass) and James Maddren (drums):
