Jens Thomas new in the o-tone music booking roster & new album “The Neil Young Collage”

With great pleasure we welcome Jens Thomas with his new project “The Neil Young Collage” (release date: 31.03.2023) to our artist roster!

HAZ describes the SWR Jazz Prize winner as follows: “The original, unadulterated Thomas, who throws himself into an evening without knowing beforehand exactly what he will do and how the audience will react, but who is not afraid of taking risks – you can only get that solo. A concert with Jens Thomas is always something special.”

Jazz pianist and vocal performer Jens Thomas, sings and plays Neil Young. Unconventional, surprising and highly emotional. His Neil Young collage is a sound journey beyond styles and categories, provoking images and memories in the listener’s mind.

The term “collage” is close to the expression “bricolage”, and here means to “tinker” (French: “bricoler”) with the found songs and lyrics of Neil Young and to arrive at new and independent solutions by intuitively “listening” to the material. What was an instinctively painterly process of layering piano improvisations, vocals and percussion instruments during the production of the album transforms live into a fascinating “tinkering” in the moment before the eyes and ears of the listeners.
